Access Statement For Broome Farm

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors at Broome Farm.  The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

  • There is a bus stop on the main road, approx ½ mile away, with a regular (hourly service) and by arrangement we will pick you up from this and deliver you to The Broome.
  • The main train station is 15 miles away (Hereford). The number 33 bus stops outside which brings you directly to Peterstow.
  • There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required, we can make a booking for you.
  • Brochures and menus can be provided in large print and braille by prior arrangement.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • On arrival to the property there is a fairly steep drive approx. 1 in 5 but it is not a long drive (50 yards).
  • No marked parking bays but there is ample room for all cars.
  • The surface is sloping.
  • We can assist guests with luggage.
  • The village is a 10 minute walk through our cider orchards where you will find the Peterstow Village Stores and Post Office, as well as the pub we run, The Yew Tree Inn.

Main Entrance & Reception

  • The front door has one step 12 cm high.
  • The door is 107 cm wide.
  • On entry into our home there is a hallway 1.11m by 5m.
  • There is seating provided in the hallway.
  • There is short pile flooring throughout the ground floor.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

  • Our corridors to the ground floor breakfast room are 111cm wide.
  • Corridors have a good colour contrast and are well lit.
  • The floors on all corridors on the ground floor are carpeted.
  • The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile carpet.
  • Dog water bowl and food bowl (and food if requested in advance) are available on request.
  • The breakfast room is on the ground floor.
  • There are 5 stairs to a half landing followed by a further 5 stairs to the first bedroom.
  • The stairs are 20cm high, 25cm deep, 85cm wide.

Public Areas – WC

  • Bedrooms are en suite and a public WC is available on the ground floor (not accessible with a wheelchair) and first floor.

Dining Room

  • Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor. There are no steps.
  • Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
  • Tables have underspace of 73cm high with varying widths and height of 74cm (legs on each corner). There are chairs with arms and without, which can be moved to accommodate.
  • Menus can be provided in large print and can be provided in braille by prior arrangement.
  • We do not play background music in any area of the B&B.

Laundry

  • Washing and drying of laundry is available and an ironing board and iron is available for your use.

Shop

  • The Peterstow Village Stores and Post Office are a 10 minute walk away through our orchards.

Leisure Facilities

  • Not available.

Conference & Meeting Room

  • Available.

The Cider Suite & Orchard Suite

  • Both have external metal staircases that cars may be driven up to.
  • Ten steps up from the ground.
  • Facilities inside are all on the level.

Grounds and Gardens

  • We have a large enclosed garden (flower border and lawn) for residents, which is available to sit in (bench available) or to let dogs out if required.
  • There are 55 acres of cider orchards in which to walk with an arrowed route from the B&B where dogs (and owners!) can get more exercise. There are many walks in the area.

Additional Information

  • Assistance dogs are welcomed as are other well behaved dogs.
  • Mobile phone reception is generally poor.
  • We are able to use the front and back doors in the need of evacuation. If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment.
  • We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment (please let us know if ordered-telephone number below for hirers).
  • We are a no smoking building (smoking is allowed in the garden which has level entry and bins are provided.)
  • We are licensed for the sale of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to residents.
